GiH News Roundup: winning odds of fairground games not skill-dependent and can be set by operators; only one operator paid Swedish fine in 2019

The odds of winning a price when playing so-called claw machines (“grijpmachines”) can be set by operators. Claw machines and related fairground games are nonetheless not regulated by Dutch gambling legislation, Dutch national broadcaster NOS recently revealed.

The Dutch government now aims for the Remote Gaming Act to come into effect on January 1, 2020. This means that the regulated online market will open on July 1, 2021 instead of January 1 as originally anticipated.
