Netherlands Gambling Authority publishes annual report

The Netherlands Gambling Authority has published its 2023 annual report.

In 2023, the Dutch regulator only received three new applications for a remote license in, compared to 27 applications in 2022, and 42 applications in 2021.

Eleven applications were withdrawn in 2023, most often because of the applicant's inability to integrate its systems with the regulator's control database (CDB).

At present, three remote license applications are still pending.

Another striking issue is the significant in the number of people registered in the CRUKS national exclusion register. In 2023, the number of registrants more than doubled, from 30,086 registrations on January 1, 2023, to 60,902 on January 1, 2024.

The regulator issued 13 fines in 2023, twelve of which were issued to licensed operators and four to unlicensed operators. The final fine was issued to an affiliate promoting illegal offers.
