GiH webinar “Compliance & marketing products for the Dutch market” – Jan. 31
Join us on Wednesday, January 31, at 15:00 CET for the Gaming in Holland webinar “Compliance & marketing products for the Dutch market.”
Just before the Christmas break, both the Netherlands Gambling Authority and the Ministry of Justice and Security announced new player protection and AML rules for licensed gambling operators.
Among other things, these new regulations require almost immediate intervention after detecting problematic gambling behavior and affordability checks if players spend more than €700 in one month (or €300 in the case of young adults).
In this webinar, we will discuss products and solutions that can assist licensed operators in remaining compliant with the new RG, AML, and marketing rules.
The webinar will feature the following speakers:
Martijn de Boer, Founder of CDDN
Rasmus Kjaergaard, CEO of Mindway AI
Mario Chamorro, Manager at MDF Partners
Nikolas Lotz, COO of Chevron Group
Attending the webinar is free. Please click here to register.
Kindred Board recommends acceptance of FDJ takeover offer
The Board of Directors of Kindred has unanimously recommended that the shareholders of Kindred accept the €2.45bn takeover offer from French gaming giant FDJ.
Kindred's flagship Unibet brand is currently the leading iGaming operator in the Netherlands with an estimated market share of 20%.
According to Ed Birkin, senior analyst at H2 Gambling Capital, the offer would significantly strengthen FDJ's position across Western Europe, including its French home market:
“It gives [FDJ] access to new products – especially in the iGaming space, which accounts for 60% of Kindred’s revenues – and entry into new markets, as well as solidifying their positioning in the French online markets.
“If the French market were to open to iCasino, it would also give them a very strong position from day one – something that is very important, given the potential market size.
The acquisition would also change the trajectory of FDJ itself, Birkin says:
“Combining the cash flow of the monopoly operations with the reach of Kindred as a multi-product, multi-jurisdictional B2C operator – along with a B2B operation – materially changes the direction of travel for the business.
Other recent acquisitions by FDJ include its €175m takeover of ZEturf (another Netherlands-licensed iGaming operator) in October, while its €350m bid for Premier Lotteries Ireland closed in November.
FDJ is also widely seen as a potential buyer of Nederlandse Loterij if Dutch parliament were to approve the privatization of the state-owned operator,
XY Legal Solutions launches QMRA quality mark across six regulated markets
XY Legal Solutions, which previously introduced the KVA quality mark for Netherlands-facing affiliate websites, is extending its reach with the introduction of the Quality Mark Responsible Affiliates (QMRA) across six other regulated markets: Spain, Norway, the UK, Denmark, Germany and Sweden.
QMRA offers compliance checks to its membership to ensure that they comply with local affiliate advertising rules.
Membership fees for QMRA stand at €695 per website annually with a discounted rate of €595 available for companies operating three or more websites.
The decision to launch the Quality Mark in other European markets stems from the success of KVA in the Netherlands – a success that appeared to highlight a global demand for a standardized affiliate quality mark.

VIDEO | GiH Webinar report: Experts discuss new responsible gaming rules
Recently, both the Netherlands Gambling Authority and the Ministry of Justice & Security announced new player protection and AML rules.
These rule changes were discussed in last week's Gaming in Holland webinar featuring Justin Franssen, Partner at Kalff Katz & Franssen; Peter-Paul de Goeij, Managing Director of NOGA; and Björn Fuchs, Board Member of VNLOK.
The webinar discussion focused on the recently announced rule changes and on practicalities surrounding the new rules' implementation.
One major concern expressed during the discussion was the lack of clarity in the new rules. Another concern was that players would likely respond to the new rules by creating additional accounts to escape the affordability checks, or even return to black-market operators.
