2021 GiH Conference: Ask the CEOs!
One of the highlights of the 2021 Gaming in Holland Conference – taking place September 28 in Amsterdam – promises to be our CEO panel, which will feature the CEOs of the Netherlands’ largest gambling operators: Sigrid van Aken (Novamedia), Erwin van Lambaart (Holland Casino), Eric Olders (JVH gaming), and Niels Onkenhout (Nederlandse Loterij).
These CEOs will share their insights on the regulated online market, responsible gaming, and sustainable marketing. Their discussion will be moderated by Birgitte Sand, former Director of Danish regulator Spillemyndigheden.

Tombola joins trade association NOGA
Tombola has joined the Netherlands Online Gambling Association (NOGA) as its newest member.
“NOGA is extremely proud of the accession of its youngest member Tombola. I see this as a clear sign that a growing number of gambling operators are convinced of the many advantages trade bodies and local representation bring to internationally active operators,” says Peter-Paul de Goeij, managing director of NOGA.

Netherlands Gambling Authority imposes cease and desist orders on online bingo and lottery operators
The Netherlands Gambling Authority has imposed cease and desist orders on unlicensed operators Luxury Bingo and BSB Shop, which offered their services to Dutch consumers via Facebook and Discord.
Both operators were repeat offenders, the Dutch regulator said.
Luxury Bingo was issued a charge for each future violation of €3,000, up to a maximum of €30,000, while BSB Shop received similar charges of €7,000 for any new violations, up to a maximum of €35,000.
Dutch affiliates launch quality certification
Three leading Dutch affiliates, CasinoNieuws, Meneer Casino, and Onetime are the first affiliate marketeers to receive the newly launched Keurmerk Verantwoorde Affiliates (KVA).
KVA is administered and facilitated by XY Legal Solutions and its founder Steven Vrolijk.
In order to receive the KVA certification, affiliates must:
Only link to licensed offerings
Use social media channels in a responsible manner, for instance by employing age verification tools whenever possible
Only show responsible and balanced advertising
Prevent the publication of inaccurate information
Offer responsible gambling tips and include referrals to problem gambling prevention resources
888 acquires William Hill's non-US assets for £2.2bn
The acquisition aims to create a global online betting and gaming leader "by combining two of the industry’s leading brands,” a statement by 888 said.
The combination of 888 and WHI is expected to deliver significant operating efficiencies, “including pre-tax cost synergies of at least £100 million per year.”
“William Hill is an iconic sports brand, making it the ideal complement to 888, one of the leading global online gaming brands. Our strategies are also complementary, being digitally led, customer focused, and committed to player protection and raising industry standards around safer gambling,” said 88 CEO Itai Pazner.

Netherlands Gambling Authority releases advertising guidance ahead of online market opening
The Netherlands Gambling Authority has published advertising guidance aimed at operators looking to implement the new marketing rules that will enter into force on October 1, simultaneously with the opening of the regulated online market.
The guidance clarifies rules regarding general advertising restrictions, the use of role models, and the obligation to avoid targeting vulnerable consumers such as minors and young adults.
Notable aspects of the new rules include a prohibition of the use of professional athletes or role models who appeal “to a significant degree” to under-25s, and restrictions on bonus offers.
