Gaming in Holland to host free sessions at the SBC Digital Summit, 8-11 September


Gaming in Holland is pleased to announce that we will be present at the SBC Digital Summit. Registration for this virtual event is free.


On Thursday, September 9, at 14:00, we will host the session “Preparing for the Dutch Remote Gaming Act: Timeline, regulations & market outlook.”


Featured speakers are Sam Depoortere, Business director ''TOTO'' Sportsbook - Casino at Nederlandse Loterij; and Justin Franssen, Partner at KKF law firm.


The session also includes an audience Q&A, as well as a brief preview of the upcoming Gaming in Holland Conference on September 22 in Amsterdam. The discussion will be moderated by Peter-Paul de Goeij, Managing Director of the Nederlandse Online Gambling Associatie (NOGA).


Gaming in Germany session


Also, on Thusday September 9, at 16:00, Gaming in Germany will host the session “Preparing for a fully regulated online market,” which will look ahead at the revised German State Gambling Treaty that will come into force on July 1, 2021.


Confirmed speakers for this session include leading German gambling lawyer Jörg Hoffman of Melchers Law Firm and Martin Lycka, Director of Regulatory Affairs at GVC.

Online trade association Speel Verantwoord rebrands as Nederlandse Online Gambling Associatie (NOGA)


Dutch online trade association has rebranded as Nederlandse Online Gambling Associatie (“Dutch Online Gambling Association”).


NOGA currently represents several major online gambling operators, including bet365, Betsson, Dazzletag, Flutter, GVC and Kindred.


Holland Casino suffers H1 losses due to Covid-19 closures


Holland Casino has reported a net loss after corporate taxes of €28.3m, compared to a €32.5m profit in H1 2019.


The casino chain was forced to close its doors for almost four months due to corona-related measures. “Corona has hit our company hard," Holland Casino chief executive Erwin van Lambaart said. “Without any time to prepare, we had to close our doors and our nearly 4,000 employees suddenly found themselves at home.”


“Unfortunately, the outlook for the rest of this year is not exactly rosy. The outlook for next year is extremely uncertain. Therefore, we are looking at how we can remain financially healthy and future-proof in this difficult period. We expect to be able to make further concrete announcements about this by December,” Van Lambaart added.

The 2020 Gaming in Holland Conference, which takes place September 22, in Amsterdam will be essential in order to be fully prepared for the opening of the regulated Dutch online market.
