The Dutch gambling regulator the Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) has published a directive on advertising which urges operators to avoid promoting participation in gaming and specifies that advertising must direct consumers to legal sites.

The KSA acknowledges that gaming publicity is a key issue for both consumers and operators, and says that the directive is designed to ensure that operators are aware of the rules governing advertising and their implications.The rules apply to all operators and all types of gambling in the Netherlands, although they will only currently benefit land-based operators, pending the opening of the online gambling market.
