Dear Members of Gaming in Holland,
Over the last two years, I have frequently kept you up-to-date on the latest news and developments in the Dutch eGaming industry. I enjoy keeping you informed and I will continue doing so. Actually, the market and political environment in Holland are evolving so fast, that I’ve decided to start sending out a newsletter twice a month. This is the first edition.
In the newsletters, you will find a selection of news items, op-eds and short interviews with key players in the eGaming business. Once a month, Justin Franssen will give us an update on the latest legal developments and the regulatory process. Mr. Franssen is one of Holland’s top gaming lawyers. Chambers Global Guide: ‘Sources say that Justin Franssen has been the “driving engine” of recent changes in Dutch legislation with respect to remote gaming operations in the Netherlands. This industry is his passion. He knows all the latest developments – in fact he’s often behind them himself.’ For more information on his work, please visit www.kalffkatzfranssen.nl.
For those who don’t know me yet: my name is Willem van Oort. I’m founder and CEO of GranViaOnline. GranViaOnline is a leading eGaming consultancy provider servicing clients in The Netherlands (Amsterdam), the UK (London) and Spain (Barcelona). I have been active in the online gaming sector since 2005. Before that, I was part of the international management board of live entertainment company Stage Entertainment.
I’m also the founder of Gaming in Holland (GiH). Gaming in Holland is an independent association for the eGaming industry in The Netherlands. GiH has a website www.gaminginholland.com, is active on Twitter (@GaminginHolland) and has a LinkedIn Group with over 800 members. Altogether, we reach some 1,250 gaming professionals, both in Holland and abroad. In 2013, our Gaming in Holland Conference attracted 182 participants from 22 countries. The next conference will be held in Amsterdam, on the 23rd and 24th of June 2014. For more information, please visit our new and improved website www.gaminginholland.com.
In addition, four times a year we organize a busy networking event where you can get to know your fellow GiH members over a couple of beers. You’re welcome to stop by at the World Trade Center (Café De Blauwe Engel) in Amsterdam. The date of the next event will be November 19th.
Not a member yet? Sign up today and stay tuned to the latest developments in the Dutch eGaming industry: www.linkedin.com/groups/Gaming-in-Holland-community-eGaming-2190273/about. (And why not tell your colleagues about GiH?)
By the way, the editorial team of the newsletters includes former journalists Martin van Geest and Joost van Kleef, who have recently made their entry in the gaming business – but more on that later.
The next newsletter will come out in two weeks. That edition will cover truths and myths about sports betting and include Justin Franssen’s first briefing on Dutch gaming legislation.
Have a nice day,
Willem van Oort
